| Pro-life | a) Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation? | ||
| Yes | b) Should abortion be legal when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape? | ||
| Yes | c) Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions? | ||
| Generally, I believe that an unborn child should not be punished regardless of how conceived. It concerns me that if we make an exception for pregnancies resulting from incest or rape that the exception will be abused. So, the exception to allow for an abortion resulting from incest or rape would need to be very narrowly defined, and include a limit on the gestation period. Pain-capable, after 20 weeks, should not be allowed. | |||

| No | c) Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting? | ||

| Campaign contributions should be completely transparent, and further limit the influence of PACs, while maintaining restrictions for corporations and unions. It is impossible to eliminate political influence from redistricting, no matter how much we might want to. Though it has been a difficult process, NC districts are currently the most regular we have seen since the '70s. SCOTUS decisions from the '70s encouraged political gerrymandering, and technology has enabled abuses. It needs to be resigned back in with new court precedent, and hopefully, before 2021. | |||

| 1. School safety should be enhanced with a school resource officer on each public school campus--costing approximately $120M/yr, which is less than our current annual budget surpluses, so no additional funding other than to reduce contributions to our rainy day fund, which is approaching an optimum level. 2. We must focus and prioritize taxpayer resources for those functions that are the responsibilities of government. Public safety, infrastructure, education, and basic government services--while limiting unnecessary regulations that place an undue burden on individuals and business. 3. Each of us should be free to exercise firmly-held religious beliefs in public and private. |
